Mount Alverno provides a relatively quiet area in the building as well as three hermitages for individual retreatants. They are located up the hill away from the main building. While running water is unavailable, the hermitages contain compost toilets, electricity, and small appliances. Meals and showers are taken in the main building. They are appointed in keeping with Franciscan Spirituality and simplicity.
The purpose of Hermitage is to withdrawn from the world, to rest from the burdens, distractions and conveniences of daily life in order to reconnect with God and self by living simply.
These cabins are intentionally rustic and outfitted simply. They are situated on a serene spot, up the hill, overlooking the main building, just off the hiking trails that trace the north end of the 104 acre property.
The cabins are furnished with linens, clock radio, coffee maker, kettle, microwave oven, dishes, fridge, smoke detector, fire extinguisher, flashlight, broom, heater and in some cases, an air conditioner. Keys and drinking water are provided at check-in.
We provide many an opportunity for a reflective getaway and all indicators reveal that the number of people seeking this experience is on the increase. They afford a contemplative retreat experience for the individual or married couple.
